Cabinet nods draft laws for 2 more specialized universities

The cabinet has given final approval to the draft laws of two separate specialized universities in Chandpur and Habiganj.Including these two new universities, the number of public universities across Bangladesh will stand at 48.

The drafts of Chandpur Science and Technology University Act 2019. And the Habiganj Agriculture University Act 2019 were given approval at a meeting as new specialized universities. Which held at the prime minister’s office on Monday.

Chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the meeting also approved the principle draft of Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board Act 2019.confirmed Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam at the Secretariat.

Anwarul say that Including these two new universities the number of public universities across Bangladesh will stand at 48.

The president will be the chancellor of the university.And a syndicate will be formed. Vice-chancellor, pro vice-chancellor, and treasurer will be appointed in accordance with the law.

Regarding the approval of Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board Act 2019.The cabinet secretary say the cabinet approved the draft law with some amendments to the existing Madrasa Education Ordinance 1978 to make it time-befitting in line with the Supreme Court order.

Anwarul further say the cabinet also approved a proposal for setting up a consulate general office in Florida.In addition to the existing two consulate offices in New York and the embassy in Washington.

He also say that the new consulate office will set up considering the diplomatic interest.And Bangladesh’s strong partnership with the USA.

Besides the consulate will very important to provide services to over 40,000 expatriate Bangladeshis living in Florida.

the cabinet secretary Anwarul say that,the office of the consulate general will play a vital role in strengthening diplomatic ties of Bangladesh with the USA.And other countries of the world as most of the countries have consulate offices there.

Meanwhile the cabinet greeted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her re-election as the president of the ruling Awami League.And being ranked 29th as the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women by Forbes.
