Dhaka Bank launches contactless credit card

Dhaka Bank on Monday announced a partnership with Mastercard to launch their Mastercard Titanium contactless credit card in Bangladesh at a product launching ceremony held in capital Dhaka on Monday, said a press release.

With this launch, the bank along with Mastercard has embarked on the journey of bringing latest technology of card-based payments in the country.

Dhaka Bank managing director and chief executive officer Syed Mahbubur Rahman, and Mastercard Bangladesh country manager Syed Mohammad Kamal attended the event while Dhaka Bank additional managing director Emranul Huq and SEVP and retail business division head Shafquat Hossain along with other senior executives of both the organisations were also present.

The contactless EMV-enabled Mastercard Titanium credit card will facilitate more secure way to transfer and store credit card information of the users as well as ease cardholders’ day-to-day transactions by allowing them to simply tap the card in front of a card-reader or POS terminal to complete the transaction, thereby eliminating the need for swiping or inserting the card into the terminal, said the release.

Alongside, customers can enjoy facilities like availing up to two supplementary (add-on) credit cards, card cheque as an alternative to credit card with a promotional balance transfer interest rate, 24/7 helpline service and an exclusive credit shield insurance protection for unforeseen event.

Syed Mahbubur said, ‘We believe that through this partnership, we will be able to serve our customers with more diversifying products and services, and offer them the maximum utility out of their credit cards.’
