In the northern region of Bangladesh Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science & Technology University is the first Science & Technology University. The University is government financed public University of Bangladesh.
HSTU is situated at Basherhat in Dinajpur and it began its University program at 11 September 1999. The University is stands from the Urban Dinajpur and clamor at a wonderful area.

The University began its trip as a rural Extension Training organization (AETI) made to offer three year recognition course. After that it was hoisted to degree-giving establishment in 1988 and named as Hajee Mohammad Danesh Agricultural College. The College concentrated on Agriculture. September 06, 1999 the Prime Minister of Peoples Republic Bangladesh Sheik Hasina initiates the exercises of this University by setting the establishment stone. In the wake of setting up the establishment stone, Prof. Anisur Rahman was named as Project Director to build up the college. To begin with group of the understudies were conceded around then (1999-2000 session). The Act of the University was passed on 8 July 2001 in the Jatio Shongsad (National Assembly) was trailed by a journal notice on 8 April 2002.
At now there are nine faculties of HSTU 43 departments under the
